For Your Current-Gen
Do you think that a reskin and roster upgrade are worth $70? Every game nowadays should cost significantly less because when you purchase a brand new game you’re guaranteed bugs and updates. I don’t know how they don’t less. Looks like $69.99 will be the norm since people refuse to quit giving 2K cash. I don’t buy how to get mt in nba 2k21 games at full price anymore so it doesn’t impact me as much. It merely means matches will take more time to fall in cost.
Honest question for those people mad about this, even if a $10 price increase is a problem why the fuck are you purchasing a new $400+ console at launch? I simply do not understand how the characters 2K Boost outrage on anything. 2 types of folks out here. Individuals who will buy it eventually, and people who weren’t likely to anyway. Is this greedy? Yup. Will it matter? Nope. Tired of these threads weekly.
As much as I don’t want to pay more, we need this. It has been nearly 20 years since the price increase. The cost to make NBA 2K has quadruped and inflation has taken its normal rise. The whole industry has been afriad to boost the price to take the leap will become ridiculed. I truly hate microtransactions, but let’s be real they become more and more of a essential evil if game companies can’t make the very same profits they used to without them.
NBA 2K20 sold at least eight million copies. That’s nearly half a billion, if that was all at $60 a pop. It will not cost that much to generate a new variant of NBA 2K each year. And that’s not including the millions they rake in with microtransactions and however much they get out of sport ad deals. Yes, a cost increase was likely at any stage, but in no way are 2K hurting for money to necessitate it. Nor will them increasing the base cost of NBA 2K make the microtransactions lessens. NBA 2K likely doesn’t want the money the most, so they are one of the few which can safely take the plunge into a greater cost. It’s a risky move that I believe needs to be done and they can probably do it the safest.
As for the MT, yeahhhh that’s the issue:If higher prices meant lowering MT, that would make me more happy. However, these companies are not likely to throw off a”great thing”. This needs to be a sign of a new benchmark. I really don’t feel 2K relies on buy cheap mt 2k21 MSRP for gain, I watched both 2K and Madden equally being sold for $25 by Black Friday this past year, and even ended up getting Madden from it, basically two months post release. These matches wind up getting very cheap really fast and 2K has been online game pass for a couple months now in addition to being in humble bundles and receiving other deep discounts. I wouldn’t be shocked if this is a larger movement in costs.
